UV Stamping

April 27th, 2009 · No Comments

Well, you go to a night club. Pay an entry charge and get a UV stamp on your wrist. Do you don’t wash your hands throughout the next day and go to the club again?

Mid life crisis

March 28th, 2009 · No Comments

Mid life is supposed to be a time sometime in the 30’s. When you have been married for time, your job’s steep learning curve is more or less on a plateau. Maybe even a decline, considering that all that learnt in college is being forgotten slowly.

Its that time of life, when nothing noteworthy is happening, and all one does is goes to work, come back, eats, sleeps and is back to work on time, maybe even before, coz there’s nothing to do.

I dont think my grand dad ever had a midlife crisis.

My dad had it. Didn’t have it. Not sure. He never seemed like having a midlife crisis.

But I know onething. Many of my friends from college - 2-3 years in job, are undergoing this period of time in their life. That overlapped with the real market crisis. How do u come off it? MBA? Marriage? Backpack across the world - finding yourself?

Thoughts anyone?

Anyone read the Indian National Congress’s Manifesto?

They still talk of Mahatma Gandhi, and Ambedkar and their contributions to the independence. Wow!

Not to miss that they also bash oppostions in their manifesto. I guess that’s how its done.

Read it here.

Catch 22?

March 24th, 2009 · No Comments

Some time last year, I realised a way most people like to work -

No one likes to start on a blank piece of paper. Everyone wants to edit, review, modify someone’s creation.

Today, I realised, that when people actually are asked to do a comparision of two documents to check if its all the information is present, they prefer to just write one on their own, which is effectively, starting from scratch.

Catch 22. hmmm…

Work vs Party

March 23rd, 2009 · No Comments

Trinidad - a place out of this world. Has the simple philosophy - Party today, work tomorrow.

So opposite the learning from kabir

Kaal Kare So Aaj Kar, Aaj Kare So Ub
Pal Mein Pralaya Hoyegi, Bahuri Karoge Kub

which effectively makes an Indian work-a-holic. I am not putting work-a-holic to the doha above, but none-the-less.. its there in our blood. Well, booze, party and maybe hash is in the blood here :)

Point Fortin

March 22nd, 2009 · No Comments

That’s where I live presently. 2 hours from the main town - Port of Spain. This country’s very much a point when considered against Mumbai - 20 million lives to 1.3 million here. And then, Point Fortin is just some 20,000. :)

Smaller than an average Indian village?

Free Coffee

March 16th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Once upon a time, not too long ago, Barista was giving out coffee cards - you get a stamp for each coffee u drink, and the 10th coffee is free. I took a card, and used it 3 times. Then I gave it to a friend in IITD. Now, she was smart. Once went to barista with friends, got a few stamps, and then realised that there were some bills on her table. She took credit for all the coffees, ending up with the 9 required coffees within a few trips - and availed the free coffee real quick.

Learning of the day: Women are smart. IITian women are gheezu too :)
